Knowledge is power
None of it would have kept you happy
But a little of it made you afraid
Too much of it makes you miserable
miserable, but powerful
You see, it’s a strange form of power
for part of you wish you didn’t know
that you could just be happy
though completely ignorant
But now that you do know
the power appeals to you
a strong temptation
You can squeeze him
the person you know about
like you could squeeze a fly
like a child would pull off its wings
silently look at it
wriggling in its suffering
before smashing it with a thumb
To share the knowledge
to show the people
to present the hypocrisy
or simply the weaknesses
Anger, hate, and disappointment
the misery of knowing
what part of you didn’t want to know
Even a twisted sense of responsibility
you need no more reasons
(some would say excuses)
only are you reminded
that this is your opportunity,
your chance,
and your trial
This is when you can show
the true face of God
the true grace of God
Not by forgetting
that is impossible
but by safe keeping
in a hidden box
never to be opened
For God knows everything
but he doesn’t tell
