Black History Week

In English: Here’s a funny thing. Sort of. I ought to be attending their introduction meeting in Salisbury Hall right now, but I chose I’d rather spend some time on personal reflection in my room. This week is their Black History Week during which they remind themselves of the history of black people (that makes sense). What I found somewhat amusing was my former supervisor’s suggestion the other day, ‘What would happen if they had a White History Week?’ The answer to that is quite obvious. Some people would complain and say it was racist. But it’s okay the other way around, I guess.

På dansk: I denne uge er det så Sort Historie Uge, hvor man mindes de sortes historie. Tænk, hvis man havde en Hvid Historie Uge. Nogen ville nok brokke sig så.

It is quite the paradox that, seemingly, only white people can be racist. When often, those who care the most about colour are, in fact, those who have it.
